CHAPTER

TWENTY-ONE

I am so excited to see JJ tonight for our picnic. I can hardly believe it's already Saturday! Each day I have been so busy with the shop that I barely have time to check my messages, but when I do I see little love notes from my men.

Whoa, what a crazy thought…my men.

The thought makes me feel warm, and anxious…and needy. My eyes stray toward the tanning area and the past floods my vision. I have to shake away the memories of being taken in the back room by Jo. Just looking in the direction of the tanning room has me yearning for that promise he made to “make it up to me” when he pressed into me and took me hard and fast against the wall.

“Earth to Basil.” Lainie actually snaps her fingers in front of my face.

“Hey, you back here with us?” Her laughter is a sure sign that she’s at least not mad about my daydreaming and ignoring the pretty constant flow of customers.

I shake my head again, and realize that I am spilling the smoothie I just made all over the counter instead of pouring it into the cup that is literally an inch away.

The embarrassment has my gut sinking fast, and I can feel the anxious terror seeping into me. I can’t believe I just did that.

“I’m so sorry, I will remake that, and have it to you in just a moment.” I hope the customer can forgive me for drifting off and messing up their order.

The man standing in front of me, had slightly curly hair, and a short neatly trimmed beard that was only a shade lighter than his head. His warm brown eyes just blinked in confusion, while he took the paper straw of his drink and sucked in a big gulp. Great, now I don’t even have the right guy to apologize to.

I really need to take a break, get my mind back in order. All of these hot and sexy men have stolen all of my attention, and it seems with it my brain's functionality too.

“Damn sexy men taking up all the space.”

“Did you say something, miss Basil?”

“Oh, uhm, nope. Nothing.” My mortified look is surely betraying my words though.

“’S okay.” When I look up as I am grabbing a new cup from the shelf I see L’il One waving in the air, and hanging on the underside of one of the branches on the lucky jade plant on the smaller shelf above the register kiosk.

“Did you just talk?”

“Of course you didn’t just talk. That would be way too weird…wouldn’t it?”

“What’s too weird?” Lainie says over my shoulder, reaching to grab the extra canister of magical hemp seeds for whatever recipe she’s making.

“I thought I heard the little caterpillar talk.”

“Nah, that’s nothing weird, not here in Silver Springs. We have things like flying dildos–both people sized taxis and little flying messenger services. I have seen random Ice-blocks appearing out of nowhere. A person even posted on screech that when
